Márk Maczelka was born in 1985 in the town of Szentes, Hungary. He completed secondary school in the Horváth Mihály Secondary Grammar School of Szentes in the film programme, then graduated from the Communication and Media Studies MA programme of the University of Pécs. He earned his post-graduate degree in the Marketing MsC programme of the University of Pécs Faculty of Business and Economics. For seven years throughout his years at the university, he managed his communications advisory and commercial advertising production company, founded together with fellow students. Their clientele included major domestic and international brands, as well as civil society organisations. Márk Maczelka has joined the SPAR Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft. team in July 2012. He went on to work as online marketing manager and then new media manager. At SPAR, numerous business expansion, strategy and marketing communication project management and development activities bear his hallmark, recognised by more than 20 Hungarian awards. He has been the corporation’s head of communications since 1 January 2015. His department is responsible for press relations, public affairs, internal communication, sponsorship strategy, sustainability reporting, event management and marketing communication. From March 2016 to September 2017 – simultaneously with the position of head of communications – he has also lead the efforts to develop the SPAR online sales division. Márk Maczelka is the co-chair of the Hungarian Trade Association and a founding member of the Public Affairs Division of the Hungarian Public Relations Association.
